The University of Waterloo’s Water Institute is embarking on a two week mission to China to identify opportunities to expand collaboration with Chinese partner institutions recognized for excellence in water research and education.

Current and future water issues in China are well documented, and are increasingly a priority for the Chinese. Recent visits by Waterloo senior administration and researchers have concluded that there is a growing awareness and commitment to address water issues, and that collaboration with the Water Institute was of particular interest.

Waterloo researchers will hold joint workshops with the following institutions:

May 21 & 22: Wuhan University and the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in Wuhan;
May 25 & 26: Southwest University in Chongqing;
May 27 & 28: Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection/Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences in Hangzhou;
May 29 & 30: Hohai University in Nanjing.
