Global water issues are becoming increasingly complex and often require a collaborative approach across a breadth of disciplines. To stimulate interdisciplinary water research, on Monday, May 9 the University of Waterloo’s Water Institute announced it had awarded six teams a combined total of $112,000 during its most recent winter Seed Grants Program application round.

The Water Institute welcomes the newly-elected executive members of the Students of the Water Institute Graduate Section (SWIGS). Made up of volunteers from a variety of disciplines across campus, with very diverse backgrounds, these individuals are brought together by a common interest in water research.

A research collaboration between a University of Waterloo biologist and the Kluane First Nation is coming up with good news for the Yukon community — so far, the research team is finding extremely low levels of mercury in the fish.

The Singapore International Water Week announced today that John Cherry, distinguished professor emeritus from Waterloo's Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, will be awarded the 2016 Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize, a prestigious international award worth more than $280,000 CDN.
