This course shifts the traditional glaucoma management model from a reactive, eyedrop-dependent approach to a proactive, interventional paradigm. Eye care providers will analyze the drawbacks of reliance on topical therapies—including non-adherence, diurnal IOP variability, ocular surface disease, and loss-to-follow-up risks—and evaluate early procedural options. Attendees will review clinical diagnostic strategies, gonioscopy, functional versus structural staging, and advanced technologies such as home tonometry and AI-driven progression analysis. The course details interventional options across disease severities,including selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), sustained-release drug delivery systems,Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), Micro-Invasive Bleb-forming Surgery (MIBS), and traditional incisional procedures. Participants will learn to integrate stepwise interventional consensus protocols, emerging non-IOP-mediated therapies, and collaborative co-management strategies to preserve long-term patient vision.

This hands-on workshop provides optometrists with a practical introduction to fitting scleral contact lenses. Participants will review key indications, lens design parameters, fitting techniques, and troubleshooting tips. Through demonstrations and guided practice, attendees will gain practical skills and confidence to integrate scleral lenses into optometric practice. Emphasis will be placed on practical fitting approaches, with opportunities for hands-on insertion and removal practice along with diagnostic trial lens fitting. Live slit lamp and OCT evaluation will provide confidence in assessing scleral lenses and identifying common fitting challenges. Though not required, participants are strongly encouraged to serve as both practitioner and subject during hands-on activities to maximize the learning experience.

Advances in ophthalmic imaging are transforming the way optometrists detect, monitor, and manage ocular disease. This interactive workshop will provide a practical overview of current and emerging imaging technologies, including widefield retinal imaging, OCT-angiography, anterior segment imaging, and next-generation ocular oximetry. Participants will learn how these tools provide complementary insights into ocular structure, vascular health, and metabolic function, enabling earlier detection and more precise disease management. Attendees will gain actionable strategies for integrating multimodal imaging into everyday practice and explore how artificial intelligence and biomarker-driven technologies may shape the future of eye care.

This workshop is offered as an optional add-on to the conference and requires advance registration and a separate fee.

The likelihood of the development of glaucoma is increased following surgical management of vitreoretinal disease including pars plana vitrectomy, and intravitreal injections of gas, silicone oil, steroid, and anti-VEGF agents and therefore these individuals require special consideration. Using case examples, this course will discuss underlying cause of elevated intraocular pressure and glaucoma in patients who have undergone vitreoretinal procedures and will highlight treatment pearls and management considerations.

This course discusses the necessary considerations for optometrists while managing patients who may be pregnant or breastfeeding. The treatment of acute and chronic ocular conditions using oral and topical medications will be highlighted, with a focus on risk-benefit evaluation. The role of the FDA in evaluating the safety and efficacy of medications in pregnant and nursing individuals will be evaluated. Additionally, maximizing the utility of available key resources for prescribers will be presented.
