Arriving at post-secondary, you will hear a lot of territorial acknowledgements, maybe for the first time. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, land granted to the Six Nations of the Grand River (the Mohawk, Seneca, Oneida, Cayuga, Onondaga and Tuscarora nations). Currently, The Six Nations have less than five percent of the land originally granted to them; in welcoming new residents to this land, The Connection Collective program is providing an opportunity for incoming students to learn about the Haldimand Tract from David A. Moses, of Lenape heritage, from Six Nations. David will close out our virtual events with a session on the significance of the land that territorial acknowledgements speak briefly to.
