Mentorship Program Pulse Check

Use this month to ask any questions or topics that either of you would like to discuss that has not yet been covered. Each of you had specific reasons for joining the program when you signed up, were these reasons addressed?

Possible discussion topics:

  • Mentors - are there any specific skills you would like to teach your mentee? (ie. a specific excel function, resume formatting, interview tips, etc?)
  • What are some good experiential learning opportunities that the mentee can do to help create a more well rounded future employee?
  • How much of your course work do you actually use after school? Do you really need to memorize calculus equations?
  • Talk about your personal failures, do you have any? What are some opportunities for growth that come out of failure?
  • What are your thoughts on risk taking? Should it be embraced? Why or why not and how?
  • How long did it take for you to get employed after finishing school? How do you keep from getting discouraged during the job search process?
  • How do you keep growing during school, and after graduation?
  • Tips for landing your first job.
  • Resume and cover letter help.
  • Are there any specific skills you determined needed work? Elaborate on them.
