What's WiE Mini Hackathon all about?
Join our Mini-Hackathon as a mentor! The point of this short hack is to practice iterating fast + rapid prototyping + learning how to work in a team under pressure + consuming lots of caffeine to get through it all. The scale and ideas would be smaller, but participants will still go through all the steps of a full hackathon! Bonus- individuals don't need to have any prior experience- so if someone has always wanted to learn, this is their chance!
Date: Saturday, November 4th, 2023
Time: 9:00 AM-10:00 PM
Location: Engineering 7 and Engineering 5 Building at the University of Waterloo
Food: Breakfast, Lunch, dinner, snacks and COFFEE for all hackers, mentors and volunteers!
Why mentor for this event?
Hackathon teams are made of people with very different backgrounds. Each with a function, a knowledge, and a history. Sometimes, as they try to solve the challenge, the participants get lost, lose direction and have trouble trusting themselves.
Your job is to be the light at the end of the tunnel! You are the person with enough experience to give advice that really works. Your job is to put your knowledge into practice and guide them.
You will have the opportunity to meet students and be directly involved in ensuring the entire event runs smoothly! You will also get free food, a wie branded t-shirt and a goodie bag for volunteering your time at this event.
ELIGIBILITY:
You have participated in a hackathon or have experience mentoring student teams!
