Employers

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Julie Anne Nord to our team as the new Writing and Communication Advisor for our Undergraduate Programs. With her impressive background in teaching and writing, we are excited to see her take on this new role.

Julie's passion for teaching and writing began early in her life, and she has since developed her skills through a variety of experiences and training. Her work as a Lead Writing Fellow and volunteer writing tutor, as well as her experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and private music instructor, make her an excellent fit for this role. We are confident that her expertise will greatly benefit our undergraduate students.

As the spring term draws to a close, the fall term is drawing nearer. If you are enrolled in co-op at university,  it may be the dreaded recruitment term. On top of juggling courses, assignments, essays and exams, you have to find a job. You have to submit what seems like 200 cover letters and resumes, and attend multiple nerve-racking interviews, just with the hopes of landing a good job with decent pay, in a decent location and with decent responsibilities. Although the recruitment term is stressful and overwhelming, it is a great opportunity to refocus your goals and aspirations.

The Writing Centre and the Book Store invite you to attend a book launch and reception for Performing Antiracist Pedagogy in Rhetoric, Writing, and Communication, edited by Dr. Frankie Condon (English Language and Literature) and Dr. Vershawn Young (Drama and Speech Communication).

Please join us for a discussion and refreshments.

Did you miss attending our Open House on September 16? You missed some great food, excellent information, and having some fun with words. We asked our visitors to tell us about their writing habits on our Writing Centre mural. Below are some samples of what was written.

Welcome to the UWaterloo Writing Centre!

This is our blog – welcome. We are literally buzzing in our seats anticipating all of the writing we will have to do to keep everything here looking fresh. Our co-ops are English professionals so they don’t mind.
