Waterloo's Teaching Innovation Incubator (TII) has recently accepted another important project: the Student-Led, Individually Created Course (SLICCs) framework. Developed at the University of Edinburgh, SLICCs are a self-directed learning approach that offers benefits to both students and instructors by collaboratively shaping educational experiences. The 14th Annual University of Waterloo Teaching and Learning conference was held this past May 3 and 4, with a day of online pre-conference workshops preceding the in-person conference, the first since our last in-person conference in 2019. After two years of online conferences to sustain conversations around teaching and learning in the midst of the pandemic, the energy and community-building emerging from our return to in-person was inspiring.
April was an exciting and busy month for CTE. We were able to offer some of our Signature Annual Events -- including the Waterloo Assessment Institute and the PebblePad Showcase -- in person after so long!
