Raul Ramirez
Biography
Raul I. Ramirez B. is a Master of Applied Science student in the Systems Design Engineering Department at the University of Waterloo, and a member of the Advanced Interface Design Lab, specializing in human factors and ergonomics in AI applications in healthcare. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering at the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá, where his thesis focused on automated academic management systems. His research interests center on the intersection of human factors, intelligent systems, and artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on designing user-centered technologies that improve healthcare processes and outcomes.
Raul has published and presented research on topics ranging from rapid systematic reviews of software development practices to the design of mobile health applications for pandemic response. Professionally, he has industry experience at Dell Technologies, where he supported technical solution design as a Customer Experience Engineer. His academic and professional work has been recognized with honors, including the SENACYT-CALDO Scholarship and the Rubén Darío Regional Award for Academic Excellence. Through his graduate research, Raul aims to contribute to advancing healthcare technologies that are safe, effective, and aligned with human needs in the era of Artificial Intelligence.
