Giving to ensure Warriors thrive
September reminds me of the sense of possibility that defines our University community. As students begin the academic year, they envision what they will accomplish as Waterloo Warriors, filling our campuses with energy and inspiration.
What’s special about Waterloo – and what sets it apart from other universities – is our community’s ability to hold onto that sense of the possible. We have worked together to change the status quo since our founding in 1957. Confident in our collective abilities, we encourage our students and researchers to tackle the world’s most complex problems, and we provide the support they need to transform their bold ideas into daring realities.
This year’s Report on Giving celebrates our community of donors, who give generously to ensure Waterloo Warriors continue to learn, grow and thrive together. Their stories include a highly accomplished University professor who created a bursary for students in need, and an environmental engineering student leading the charge in sustainable agriculture.
As you learn about their experiences, you will notice the deep sense of connection and the belief in one another that makes our community so strong. I invite you to learn more about our donors’ reasons for giving, whether it’s to amplify our global leadership in areas like entrepreneurship, or to honour a professor who built our bench strengths in research and education. Whatever story inspires you, I hope you will consider how you can contribute to the University community. Together, we will foster the relentless spirit of possibility that connects us all as Waterloo Warriors.

P.S. If you’re looking to rekindle your connection with the University, I encourage you to register for Homecoming on September 21. Our football team will be playing against the Laurier Golden Hawks – and nothing brings out the inner Warrior like a Battle of Waterloo.
