Our Team

The president role is the main representative of ASU, leads the executives throughout each term as a backbone, and acts as a liaison with WUSA, all University departments, organizations, and governing bodies. 

The president is responsible for day-to-day operations in the office, which includes behind-the-scenes administrative duties. Although the president doesn't regularly connect directly with students and subsocieties, rest assured that progress is being made within the ASU!

This position is only open to students who have been an ASU Executive Member for a minimum of 1 full academic term.

The VP Internal acts as the second-in-command of the ASU, and is the primary liaison between the executives and subsocieties. Under the advisement of the President, they oversee all policies and procedures pertaining to the ASU, including elections and existing subsocieties. 

The VP Internal assumes the powers and duties of the President in their absence.

The VP Finance is responsible for all budgets, financial records, financial status reports, managing cheque requests, and other and all financial matters pertaining to ASU and its subsocieties.

The VP Academic is an academic advocate for the students of the Arts Student Union. They liaise with WUSA, the Faculty of Arts, and the University while sitting on various academic committees. The VP Academic also serves as the policy advocate for all ASU students, so if a student is facing a university policy issue, such as a plagiarism accusation or an issue with a professor, and they do not feel comfortable pursuing it on their own, the VP Academic is there to advocate for them.

The VP Retail operates the activities that pertain to the Tuck Shop in AL 120. This involves getting inventory, managing the Tuck Shop volunteers, marketing and shop initiatives, and related duties. They are also in charge of the ASU Poster System for AL, HH, PAS, and ML. For inquiries about the posters, please refer to the Poster Information page.

The VP Social is responsible for the organization and planning of all social activities for the ASU, making sure each event runs smoothly and everyone involved has a great time!

The VP Communications, collaborating with the President and VP Retail, recommend marketing, communication, and promotional strategies for ASU, and are in charge of communicating with subsocieties and suggesting, along with creating, any marketing materials. They are also in charge of keeping up-to-date records of recognized clubs and societies, along with their exec lists, club room numbers, and contact information.

The First Year Secretary works to assist all other ASU Executive Members in their duties, including, but not limited to, notetaking during meetings, assisting with tasks related to event-planning, setting up the ASU Tuck Shop, and more. 

This role is only open to first-year students.
