Big-toothed Canada Goldenrod
Solidago fallax var. fallax (Fernald) Semple is native to Newfoundland, eastern Québec, northern New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. It is the less hairy, broad-leaved diploid race of Eastern Canada. The broadly lanceolate leaves usually have large teeth. Plants tentatively labeled as aff. var. fallax occur in the east part of northern Ontario. Var. fallax is similar to var. molina which in pure form has hairy stems and leaves. Var. fallax can be similar to S. gigantea, but the branching pattern of the infloresences of the two species differ.
Narrower leaved plants of var. fallax can be similar to S. brendae.
