Heterotheca sessiliflora var. bolanderi

Heterotheca sessiliflora ssp. bolanderi (A. Gray) Semple is the northern most member of the California Goldenaster complex.  It includes just  var. bolanderi.  It occupies dunes and headlands near the Pacific in northern California.  It has been treated as a species in both Chrysospsis and Heterotheca.  The taxon is diploid (2n=18).

Nesom (1997) treated the taxon as Het. echioides (Benth.) Shinners var. bolanderi (A.Gray) G.L. Nesom .
