Mongolian Aster, Asteromoea

This is another unusual x=9 species of aster native to eastern Asia. It has been treated as Asteromoea mongolica and Kalimeris mongolicaemphasizing the distinctive appears of its heads and the reduced pappi.  Its button heads have very pale violet-pink rays. It grows well in southern Ontario and blooms for several months in the fall.
