Doellingeria umbellata var. umbellata

Doellingeria umbellata var. umbellata is common in the central and northern part of its range, becoming less so in the southern Appalachian Mountains and the foothills of northern Georgia and Alabama (Semple and Chmielewski 2006 FNA). More densely pubescent form occurs in the northeastern portion of the range (A. umbellatus forma intercedens Fernald) which is not recognized here and is just the upper limit of hairy density within var. umbellata.
