Oreostemma alpigenum var. alpigenum

Oreostemma alpigenum var. alpigenum is native to alpine meadows, usually in wet or moist areas, lake edges, clearings in subalpine pine-fir woods, sometimes along ridges in Washington and Oregon (Nesom 2006 FNA).  The subspecies is distinguished by its oblanceolate basal leaf blades with apices obtuse to rounded and by its  only distally strigillose fruit.  The subspecies has been reported to be diploid (2n=18)
