Symphyotrichum concolor var. devestitum (S.F. Blake) Semple is native to sandy and clayey soils, open areas in oak scrub, roadsides in Panhandle Florida (Brouillet et al. 2006 FNA). The variety has glabrate to sparsely hairy leaves and phyllaries. The variety is tetraploid with x=4 (2n=16).
