We are currently recruiting for our Virtual Intervention for Vertebral FrActures (VIVA) study.

Vertebral fractures due to osteoporosis can cause pain and disability. There is no standard rehabilitation for people with spine fractures due to osteoporosis. Most people will be offered medication for osteoporosis and for pain, if applicable. We would like to evaluate whether people with spine fractures would benefit from receiving education and training on pain management, nutrition, safe movement, and exercise.

We are NO LONGER RECRUITING for our FORTIFY Bones study.

As we age, we lose bone and muscle. Exercise helps keep people healthy and independent, but we still don’t know which types of exercise best prevent bone loss in people with osteoporosis or low bone mineral density. Additionally, the optimal intensity of exercise remains unclear. In this study, we compared three different types of exercise to help inform recommendations for individuals with osteoporosis or low bone mineral density.
