The Dementia-Inclusive Choices for Exercise (DICE) team was assembled in 2016. The DICE team is a collaboration of researchers, exercise providers, health care providers, dementia service providers, and people with lived experience regarding dementia (people living with dementia and family care partners).
We are developing evidence-based training modules and resources to give exercise providers (as well as recreational leaders and sport coaches) the knowledge and skills necessary to engage with, accommodate the needs of, and guide physical activity among people with dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). We are also developing resources that can be shared with persons living with dementia and their care partners to increase knowledge and confidence regarding exercise.
We use a participatory approach in this project. This means that all members of the DICE Team are equal partners. We include the diverse perspectives of all DICE Team members in all decision-making, especially the perspectives of our team members living with dementia.
