Dementia Resources for Eating, Activity, and Meaningful Inclusion

DREAM poster

The Dementia Resources for Eating, Activity, and Meaningful Inclusion (DREAM) team is a collaboration of people living with dementia, care partners, researchers, physical activity providers, dietitians, healthcare providers, and dementia service providers. Members are diverse in geographical location (e.g., urban, rural, northern), culture, ethnicity, language, knowledge, and experience. This project uses a participatory approach, meaning that all members are equal partners and their input is valued equally.

We have developed a website and evidence-based resources (e.g., learning modules, videos, handouts) to give community program and service providers the knowledge and skills necessary to increase the quantity, quality, and variety of physical activity and healthy eating opportunities for people living with dementia. There are also some resources intended to be shared with people living with dementia and their care partners to enhance their physical activity and healthy eating knowledge and behaviours.

We are looking for people living with dementia, care partners, and individuals who deliver physical activity, nutrition, and/or general wellness programs or services in their community to assess knowledge and behaviour change after reviewing the project website and resources. You will be asked to review the resources on your own time over 2-weeks using a reflection diary, and complete 3 surveys (30-45 minutes each) over a 2-3-month period. A sub-set of participants will also attend 1 or 2 Zoom semi-structured interviews (45-60 minute).

To participate in this study, you must:

  • Be able to speak and understand English
  • Be living in Canada
