Lost or misdelivered shipments

Responsibility

Central Stores ensures that all shipments are handled carefully and delivered to the correct department or location as indicated on the supplier’s label and internal records, through careful checks and verified delivery procedures. While we take all precautions, mistakes can occasionally occur. Once delivery is made to the correct address, responsibility for the item transfers to the requesting department.

Misdeliveries

If Central Stores delivers a shipment to the wrong room, department, or building, and it cannot be recovered after reasonable efforts, Central Stores will replace the item.  Central Stores is not responsible for misdeliveries caused by incorrect or incomplete address information provided by the supplier or requesting department.

Reporting

Departments should report suspected lost or misdelivered items within 10 business days of delivery. Claims must include proof of purchase and delivery details.  Claims reported after 10 business days will not be eligible for replacement.

Central Stores is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage after confirmed delivery to the correct department or location. Departments should ensure that there is a safe and secure place for deliveries to be left so that items are not lost, stolen, or damaged once they arrive.
