Montcalm - Belling the Cat

Prepared by W. Morley Lemon

George is a student in Professor Oliver’s accounting class at Montcalm University. Professor Oliver has a reputation for being a male chauvinist. Certain comments that he makes in class are paternalistic and occasionally sexist. Professor Oliver is noted for his very fierce temper and the students know that disagreeing with him or crossing him will probably result in a severe academic penalty.

George is aware of the fact that the female students in the class are made quite uncomfortable by Professor Oliver’s behaviour. They find some of his comments to be embarrassing and other comments to be insulting.

Imagine that you are George. What would you do? What should you do?
