Today brings another pair of interesting news items to compare. The first concerns an automated vehicle that delivers hot food. The second concerns an automated vehicle that delivers hot lead. (Some lines just write themselves!)
Stu Robarts of NewAtlas reports that the meal delivery service Just Eat has accomplished its first delivery by a small, automated vehicle. A little, insulated robot delivered some Turkish take-out in Greenwich, England. The lucky customer, Simone, was pleasantly surprised:
I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the door to find a robot waiting to greet me, it was like something out of a movie. ... It was very efficient and actually texted me when it pulled up.
Next, it will be automatically posting a food shot to your Instagram account!

The next item, by Michael Irving at NewAtlas, concerns the THeMIS (Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System) ADDER weaponized UGV (Unmaned Ground Vehicle). This machine comprises a small tank-like base chassis with a machine gun mounted on gimbals on top.
Currently, the system is operated remotely, like an aerial drone. However, it may be converted to autonomous operation later on.
This, too, is like a movie. I'm thinking The Terminator. My advice; Do not accept a delivery from this drone!
