You are invited to attend our next UW CPAMI Graduate Seminar, which will include:

Arief Koesdwiady will speak on "Big-Data-Based Intelligent Transportation Systems for Smart Mobility Application"

Abstract: Smart city is becoming one of the solutions to overcome cities' problems:
population growth, pollution, energy crisis, and pressure on existing transportation
infrastructure. One of the main components of smart city is smart mobility. Smart mobility aims to improve transportation systems in several aspects: city logistics, info-mobility, and people mobility. The emergence of Internet of Cars phenomenon alongside with the development Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) open some opportunities in improving the traffic management systems and assisting the travelers and authorities in their decision-making process. However, the emergence of new technologies and information-based services for mobility presents a huge number of connected human and devices that will generate an ocean of data, which are known as transportation big data. In this talk, a brief discussion about ITS in general and its role in smart mobility is introduced. To illustrate the realization of ITS to handle transportation big data in smart mobility framework, a case study of traffic flow prediction problem is presented.

Short Biography: Arief is currently a PhD candidate at Center of Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, UW. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Physics Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia and master's degree in Control Theory from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, KSA. His research interests include applied machine learning in ITS and Big Data.
