Dr. Andrew K.C. Wong (Distinguished Professor Emeritus and the co-Founding Director of the Centre of Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence: CPAMI) and his research team Dr. Antonio Sze-To and Dr. Peiyuan Zhou, members of CPAMI and of Systems Design Engineering at University of Waterloo, have developed a new Artificial Intelligence System, known as Pattern to Knowledge (P2K), which is able to discover deep knowledge from data. Deep knowledge means the hidden and entangled associations governed by different underlying factors that could not be discovered by traditional methods but could be unraveled in the different transformed statistical spaces by P2K. Professor Wong and Dr. Sze-To are  the authors of the recent paper in Nature’s Scientific Reports that details the technology which one day may lead to the discovery of new cancer drugs.
