Peace Week 2018

peace week shareable imageEvery year, on September 21, the world celebrates the International Day of Peace.

Peace Week began when Conrad Grebel University College initiated a series of community events for the week surrounding the International Day of Peace. Since 2017, we have been opening up this initiative to Kitchener-Waterloo and beyond.

We invite you to continue to make Peace Week a region-wide celebration by attending an event in your community or planning your own event to mark the occasion your way!

Some 2018 Peace Week highlights include a STEAM for Peace event at Waterloo Public Library, a yoga class at Queen Street Yoga, and the Grand River Water Walk. Learn more.

Launch Reception for "Beyond Essays: Approaching peace education differently"

Beyond Essays information posterThe Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) program at the University of Waterloo is celebrating 40 years of leadership in peace education. The innovative approach of the program allows students in many classes to explore peace in diverse and meaningful ways, including creating arts-based assignments.

Peace has been an important value in the lives of Aden and Joanne Bauman and their sons Barry, who passed away in 2016, and Michael.  Lifelong members of the Elmira Mennonite Church, Aden and Joanne were fixtures in the community at their Arthur street jewelry store.    “Peace is a Mennonite thing,” observed Joanne.
