Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT)

Who we are

“Building partnerships to transform violence and oppression” is the Mission Statement for Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT). CPT sends volunteers trained in nonviolent peacebuilding, into conflict areas to document human rights violations, to advocate for justice, and stand in solidarity with the oppressed.

CPT projects include the Kurds in Northern Iraq who faced atrocities under a previous violent regime. It also reports road closures, home invasions, checkpoints, separation barriers and militant Israeli settlers that threaten Palestinian human rights. Moreover, it works in the midst of Colombian conflict, where land is a large part of the Colombian civil war, with over six million displaced people.

In Canada, CPT is actively advocating justice for the First Nation where in Ontario, corporate clear cut logging of Asubpeeschoseewagong traditional territory has destroyed community life, and mercury contamination continues to poison the residents. It is also working on migrant justice issue along the
