Kindred Credit Union has been accepted into membership in the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) for their commitment to affecting positive change. Through its membership, Kindred will be connected to organizations from around the world who are similarly committed to conducting business – and banking – in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. There are over 43 financial institutions that are a part of the GAVB who together serve 41 million customers.
Kindred’s strong understanding of the important role businesses need to play in helping to build healthier communities contributed to their acceptance into the Global Alliance for Banking on Values. Kindred’s support of Conrad Grebel University College’s Centre for Peace Advancement (CPA) is one tangible way they have worked to building a better world. A profile on the GAVB website notes some of the CPA’s impacts, including supporting 16 peace start-ups in the Epp Peace Incubator, housing 5 affiliate peacebuilding organizations, and leveraging over $300, 000 of external funding for these CPA participants.
“Kindred’s ongoing partnership has been crucial for our efforts to advance innovative understandings and practices of peace locally and globally.” – Paul Heidebrecht, CPA Director
Membership to the Global Alliance for Banking on Values comes a month after Kindred was honoured as Best for the World by the non-profit B Lab for its remarkable impact on its community, workers, environment, and customers. Kindred is one of 175 companies from 75 industries and 25 countries to be named “Best for the World,” by B Lab.
