Research at the Centre for Peace Advancement

Monday, August 11, 2025

There is always something new happening in our community and our new Research Highlights page is a space to reflect that. The page features recent publications and ongoing work from researchers connected to the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement.

The page spotlights our Research Fellows who contribute significantly to the Centre’s research culture. Our Research Hub, made up of Research Fellows and key partners, meets once a term to stay connected on current and upcoming projects.

The Research Highlights page builds on the Centre’s commitment to research as a tool for understanding and responding to the complex challenges of building peace. It features work from several of our institutional partners, including Project Ploughshares’ ongoing research to inform advocacy around the arms trade, use of technology in warfare and outer space security, the Centre for Community Based Research, with roughly 20 community-driven research projects on the go at any one time, and the Peace and Conflict Studies Department at Conrad Grebel, with five faculty members teaching and researching peace.

Each month we will highlight a curated selection of research projects and publications. This month’s features include Through a Glass, Darkly: Transparency and Military AI Systems, by Branka Marijan, Open in Name Only: The OEWG on PAROS Stumbles Through its First Session by Jessica West, and Blueprint on Prosocial Tech Design Governance by the Council on Technology and Social Cohesion which includes Paul Heidebrecht.

Whether you are a student looking for project ideas, a community partner exploring collaboration, or someone simply curious about what peace research looks like in action, the Research Highlights page aims to be a resource for you. Every month you will find fresh ideas, links to recent publications, and insights into the themes shaping our collective work.
