On August 29, Teresa Edge began serving as the Coordinator of the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement. Teresa comes from New Zealand, and first connected with the Centre in 2016 when she took a summer Peace and Conflict Studies course while doing her Masters in Economic Development and Innovation at the University of Waterloo.
In addition to having worked in Canada and New Zealand (most recently with New Zealand Red Cross), Teresa has held a variety of roles with organizations in Myanmar, Rwanda, and Vietnam.
Teresa is excited to join the Centre for Peace Advancement and reconnect with the wider Grebel, UWaterloo and Kitchener-Waterloo communities. The Centre’s work combines two things she loves and wants to see more of in the world: social innovation and peacebuilding.
Teresa was active in entrepreneurial programs while studying at UWaterloo, and has experience working in court-related Restorative Justice and interactive peer education programs like the Alternatives to Violence Project. She's especially passionate about welcoming people who have had to leave their homes and are rebuilding lives in new places.
Teresa is keen to catch up on what's been happening in the last few years and hear what folks are dreaming up next! When you see her, let her know what you love about the Centre for Peace Advancement and the opportunities you see for co-creating peace together. You can reach Teresa at teresa.edge@uwaterloo.ca.
