This morning, the Waterloo Region Record published an op ed written by CPA Director Paul Heidebrecht about the need for, and value of, peace as a defining principle of this Region's growing vision of producing 'tech for good'.
Paul's article comes in response to a recent op ed in the New York Times about how Silicon Valley must "go to war" and deepen connections with the Pentagon. It also comes a day before the start of Communitech's True North 2018 conference, which is focusing on 'tech for good'.
In his op ed, Paul asks, "How should we define what is good? What are the crucial ingredients? Whose values should take precedence?" and proposes one possible answer: peace.
