The colorful arrangement on the front cover of the December/January issue looked to me as a "collapse" waiting to happen. Perhaps there are thin shelves supporting each layer of flasks—but my old eyes could not see any.
The following two pet peeves were sent in by Mira Soni, John F. Ross Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Guelph ON.
Scott Hopkins from the Chemistry Department at the University of Waterloo sent us a little chemical limerick. For St. Paddy’s Day — March 17 — we thought we might gather up some other chemical limericks from past issues of Chem 13 News and other sources.
Always keeping my eyes open for a new read, I found a fascinating book titled The Alchemy of Air by Thomas Hager. The book gives a well-researched discussion of the lives of Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch.
