Periodic Table Project wall mural installation

To celebrate the International Year of Chemistry, Chem 13 News encouraged chemistry educators and enthusiasts worldwide to adopt an element and artistically interpret that element. The project created a periodic table as a mosaic of science and art.

Pictured is the 25-foot by 18-foot wall mural of the final project in the Earth Science Museum at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario. Two project participants spoke at the installation ceremony — current University of Waterloo student, Heidi Fernandes whose high school class designed tile Fm-100 (Chris Toth’s class at Saint Thomas More Collegiate, Burnaby, British Columbia) and Sally Mitchell, whose class designed Hs-108 (East Syracuse-Minoa High School, East Syracuse, New York).
