Join Climate Students and Fossil Free UW on July 19th from 6-7 PM EST for an educational talk on flooding issues and equity. Graduate students Felicia and Shaieree will join us to discuss their research on flooding events in Canada and how they are related to climate change as well as causing equity issues within the community.

Shaieree Cottar: Shaiere is the coordinator for the Canadian Coastal Resilience Forum and a PhD candidate in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management. Her research is on flood risk management and Canadian policies related to managed retreat, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and resilience building against hazards across communities in Canada. 

Felicia Watterodt: Felicia is an MES student in Geography and Environmental Management. Her research examines how climate disasters, such as the 2021 BC atmospheric rivers, influence policy change, governance, and adaptation decision-making.
