Transportation

Getting to Coastal Zone Canada 2027 at the University of Waterloo is easy and convenient, whether you’re arriving from the airport or traveling within the region.

From Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)

Participants can reach Waterloo through several transportation options. Many attendees choose to rent a car and drive (approximately 1–1.5 hours, depending on traffic). Airport shuttles and limousine services also offer direct transportation to Waterloo and Kitchener hotels. For those using public transit, travellers can connect through Toronto (via Union Station) and continue by regional train or bus to the Kitchener–Waterloo area, followed by local transit to campus.

Getting around locally (from hotels and within the region)

Moving around Waterloo is simple and flexible. The ION Light Rail Transit (LRT) provides convenient connections between key destinations in Kitchener and Waterloo, including areas near hotels, restaurants, and shopping. The Grand River Transit (GRT) bus network offers frequent service across the region. For added convenience, taxis and ride-sharing services such as Uber are widely available and provide easy door-to-door transportation. Many conference locations are also walkable, and the campus is well connected by pedestrian and cycling routes.
