We are happy to welcome James Lowman back to the group! He is starting the PhD program after recently completing his MASc and will be focusing developing numerical methods for the solution of dispersed multiphase flow models.

Prof. Gostick gives plenary talk at CSChE 2018
Prof. Gostick gives "Emerging Leaders in Chemical Engineering" plenary talk at the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering conference in Toronto. This plenary session recognized the contributions of three early-career researchers and highlighted their vision and leadership in their respective field of chemical engineering.
Collaborative research on phosphorous recovery technology funded
COMPHYS faculty member NM Abukhdeir was awarded NSERC Collaborative Research and Development grant with industrial partner Ostara Biological Nutrient Recovery Technologies (Vancouver, BC) to continue research project on polydisperse fluidization relevant to their phosphorous recovery technology.

COMPHYS graduate student member Tanyakarn Treeratanaphitak (supervisor NM Abukhdeir) is awarded her PhD. Her thesis is entitled "Diffuse Solid-Fluid Interface Method for Dispersed Multiphase Flows" (link).

COMPHYS welcomes new graduate student members Thomas Donnely (MASc, ChE), Alexandru Vasile (MASc, ChE), and Kimia Entezari (MASc, ChE) who are joining the research group of Prof. Abukhdeir. Congratulations to Tommy and Alex for both being awarded both the prestigious NSERC Canadian Graduate Scholarship (CGS-M) and the UW Engineering Excellence Masters Fellowship (EEMF)!
