Entrance Awards
The Faculty of Engineering offers two entrance awards to top applicants.
Dean's Entrance Awards (DEA), valued at $5,000, to highly qualified domestic applicants.
Dean of Engineering Master's Excellence Award (DEMEA), valued at $10,000, to highly qualified domestic master's (MASc) students.
How to be considered
There is no separate application process for entrance awards. Eligible applicants will automatically be considered and students will be notified in their offer letter.
Top-up for NSERC/SSHRC/CIHR Award holders
Tri-Agency (NSERC, CIHR, and SSHRC) CGS-M award recipients will receive the President’s Graduate Scholarship top-up, valued in the Faculty of Engineering at $10,000 for the year you hold the award. $5,000 is coming from the University of Waterloo and $5,000 from the Faculty of Engineering. Top students will also receive the $5,000 Dean's Entrance Award. Tri-Agency CGS-M award recipients will receive funding up to $32,500 in your first year, and guaranteed funding in your second year: either the MASc Fellowship or the minimum funding mentioned below.
Minimum Funding
All full-time MASc applicants to whom an offer is made will receive minimum financial support of $36,000 (paid over 2 years).
