Award description:
The Dean of Engineering Master’s Excellence Award, valued at up to $10,000, is available to domestic students who will be registered full time in a master’s (MASc) program in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo. A specific award application is not required. Recipients will be selected automatically based on their application for admission to the program, taking into consideration the evaluation criteria of the award. The Faculty of Engineering will select recipients in collaboration with departments as offers of admission are made throughout the year.

Value description:
Up to $10,000 paid in equal installments across the standard duration of the program, providing they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Students must be starting in a MASc program in the Faculty of Engineering in Fall 2024 or later.
- Students must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada as of program registration.
- Students must have a minimum cumulative average of 90% or equivalent in the last two years of their current or last completed program from a Canadian institution to receive the award; in order to continue receiving future installments, the student must maintain an overall average of 90% in their program.
- Must be registered full-time during the term in which the award is held.
- This funding is awarded in addition to the minimum funding the recipient may already be receiving.
- This award may be held in conjunction with external scholarships. For example: Tri-Agency Scholarships, MITACS, OGS/QEII-GSST.
- The Engineering Associate Dean, Graduate Studies retains the right to waive one or more of the eligibility criteria in exceptional cases.
- Selection will be made automatically based on the student’s application for admission to the master’s (MASc) program by the Engineering Graduate Studies Office in collaboration with departments.
