Keeping graduate students informed of news, updates, and events.
Current graduate students are automatically registered to receive the graduate student e-news when they register for the term by becoming fees arranged.
What is the graduate student e-news?
The graduate student e-news is a weekly email newsletter that is sent every Thursday to graduate students. The graduate student e-news is published by Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs in collaboration with campus partners and contains valuable information about:
- News and updates
- Events and workshops
- Important academic dates and deadlines
- Awards and funding opportunities
- Current graduate research studies
- And more!
All current graduate students automatically receive the graduate student e-news. If you are a faculty or staff member and want to receive the graduate student e-news, you can subscribe via our online form.
Graduate student e-new submission guidelines
- The graduate student e-news is sent to registered graduate students every Thursday during classes and includes information for the following week (example: e-news sent on Thursday, January 11 will cover the week of January 15-19).
- Graduate student e-news is NOT sent during the last month of the term, as such, all submissions for the final month of the term should be sent for the end-of-term edition
- The submission deadline for content to be included in the upcoming e-news is the Tuesday at noon prior to each e-news release date.
- Content should be submitted via the Graduate student e-news submission request web form. If you have an e-news submission request but have missed the submission deadline, please email us at gradcomms@uwaterloo.ca.
- Content submitted for the e-news should be no longer than 250 characters (including spaces) and include at least one hyperlink.
- Information included in the e-news should pertain to all graduate students.
- Requests for repeated submission entries will not be included, as the weekly publication date is designed to reflect "just enough, just in time" information.
Tips and tricks
- Be sure to include both a title and description in your submission.
- Explain how your event/workshop relates to graduate students (i.e. how can they benefit, or what will they take away?).
- Be sure to include hyperlinks with a meaningful landing page that is not behind a login screen (i.e. link to event descriptions as opposed to login pages on WaterlooWorks or Portal).
- For examples of previous e-news submissions, visit the archive page.
Submissions may be edited for clarity and brevity.
