Ideation Workshop

Women in Computer Science (WICS) is starting a Waterloo Chapter of the Technovation Challenge!

The ideation workshop will be held at the University of Waterloo. The workshop will introduce the Technovation Challenge and the MIT App Inventor — enough to give a sense of what coding will be like. In the afternoon, we’ll run an ideation workshop that helps the participants to explore their ideas for what their app might be about.

Technovation Waterloo Official Season

Women in Computer Science (WICS) is starting a Waterloo Chapter of the Technovation Challenge!

Technovation is a 12-week program in which teams of girls go from knowing nothing about programming to identifying a problem, building a business case and mobile app (using the MIT App Inventor), and creating a pitch. The teams generally work though the program themselves with a mentor; all of the materials are online.

DECA Provincial Prep Conference

Who should attend?

Ontario high school students (grades 9 to 12) who are DECA Regional Competition winners and will be advancing to DECA Provincials. A maximum of 200 students who have competed in one of the following categories: 

  • BFS - Business Finance Series
  • ACT - Accounting Applications
  • FTDM - Financial Services
  • FCE - Financial Consulting Event
  • PFL - Personal Financial Literacy
