In first year, I wish I knew about all the resources that are available to students. These resources really help take some of the stress off of academics and allow for more time for other aspects of University life. Also it would have been nice to know about all the clubs and events that I could have attended. Clubs and events are a great way to meet new people and learn or try new things. Looking back on first-year, it was mainly about meeting new friends and figuring out what your interests are.

Involvement outside the classroom: I used to be involved in AFSA communications and DECA but recently I've been attending more events and playing intramural sports. The events I attend include hackathons, financial competitions, and other social events. Intramural sports are also a lot of fun and I often try to participate in at least 2-3 sports.

I enjoy...

  • Playing sports, especially basketball and ultimate frisbee
  • Playing violin and guitar

Favourite place to study: Velocity Start in SCH.

Favourite place to eat in Waterloo: Definitely McDonald’s

Memorable co-op experience: My favourite co-op work term was when I was a software developer at a start-up called Cozumo. The reason this was my favourite work term is because I really enjoyed the start-up culture. Everything is really fast paced and you do relevant work. The one thing I look for in a co-op term is to be able to learn new skills and I felt like I learned the most at Cozumo. Also, the people were all really friendly and there were a lot of team bonding exercises.

Plans for life after CFM: To be honest, I'm not too sure about what I want to do after CFM. The reason why I picked CFM was because I'm on the fence about whether I like finance or computer science more. It would be great if I could get the best of both worlds and find a full time job in FinTech. However, before I find a job, I definitely want to take some time to do some travelling.
