In first year, I wish I knew there are so many resources available on campus to help you succeed and don't be afraid to ask for help as a first-year student. For example, it is always not easy to find the first coop job, but there are actually lots of resources to help you, such as CECA, CFM mentors, and alumni networks etc. Things will get a lot easier if you know how to use those resources properly.

Involvement outside of the classroom: Director of Publicity, Women in Computer Science Undergraduate Committee

I enjoy...

  • Trying new food from different places and also making my own - I'm a foodie
  • Reading
  • Surfing Quora
  • Bartending

Fun fact: I like to eat banh mis with a knife and fork.

Favourite place to study: The reading room with lots of couches on the third floor of the Dana Porter library.

Favourite place to eat in Waterloo: The University Plaza, for sure.

Memorable co-op experience: My favorite co-op work term was working at OMERS Capital  Markets as a quantitative analyst. I had the opportunity to work a very exciting project - backtest option trading strategies to hedge a large portfolio. I got to learn about different option trading strategies and see the performance of each strategy based on historical data.
Working there, I also got to hear from world-class investment banks and consulting firms on their views on macroeconomics, which is always a great learning experience.

Plans for life after CFM: My plan is to work for a few years after graduation in capital markets, consulting or fin-tech. I would still want to go to graduate school, but maybe not right after CFM.
