The University of Regina’s and the University of Waterloo’s Lean/Continuous Improvement (CI) communities have launched the Lean HE Canada network to provide university and college Lean/CI practitioners and those interested with an opportunity to network and share best practices in the higher education sector to meet the demand of Lean/CI in Canada.

The Office of the Associate Provost, Human Resources is excited to announce the successful launch of a University wide Continuous Improvement (CI) and Change Management (CM) Community of Practice. To further develop institutional CI/CM expertise, the CoP aims to provide a supportive space for those seeking to learn more about CI and CM or, those who are already working on similar initiatives.   

On October 8th, Human Resources hosted the second annual Continuous Improvement (CI) Project Showcase for employees of the University. The showcase had over 12 booths represented by multiple departments within the University of Waterloo in addition to other local institutions, Conestoga College and Wilfrid Laurier University.

Human Resources hosted our second Continuous Improvement (CI) projects showcase on Tuesday, October 8th 2019.

This was a great opportunity to learn more about how different departments are using CI tools and methodologies to achieve the most efficient processes and outcomes.

The event followed a ‘science fair’ layout with booths representing departments/projects. Booths represented tools such as visual management, kanban, process mapping, and case studies.

On June 19th, close to 100 employees attended a Continuous Improvement (CI) workshop entitled Process Mapping: The Journey to Efficiency. The workshop was led by Human Resources with presenters Michele Ryan, Business Process Analyst, Housing and Residences and Courtney Bremer, eResources Access Manager, Library.

On June 21st, a Lean workshop, led by Human Resources, was held for University of Waterloo employees. The third Lean workshop on campus this year took employees through practical steps that will allow them to improve processes and reduce inefficiencies in their own departments.
