Genome Canada has awarded funds to a University of Waterloo computer science professor to develop software to improve the efficacy of precision medicine.

Bin Ma, professor, Cheriton School of Computer Science, will receive $462,998 from Genome Canada to support a three-year project, “Software for peptide identification and quantification from large mass spectrometry data using data independent acquisition. Additional funds bring the total funding to $925,987.

Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) researcher Raymond Laflamme was invested into the Order of Canada on February 1, 2019 by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, at Rideau Hall.

Recognized as a pioneer in quantum information research and technology, Laflamme was appointed to the Order of Canada for his significant scientific and leadership contributions to the country.
