New students start arriving on campus today. The Orientation team is ready to welcome them with customized Orientation programming and events that bring all new students together. Approximately 7,200 first year students (including 1,700 international students), 2,300 graduate students, 250 exchange students, and 400 transfer students will experience this important rite of passage with customized Orientation activities, including:

  • International Undergraduate Orientation (September 1 to 3)
  • American and Out-of-province Undergraduate Orientation (September 3)
  • First-Year Undergraduate Orientation (September 3 to 9)
  • Undergraduate Transfer Orientation (September 4 to 9)
  • Exchange/Study Abroad Orientation (September 4 to 9)
  • Graduate Student Orientation (September 5 to 9)
  • Program-specific Orientation - Many departments also host program-specific orientation programming

“This year, with our increased number of incoming international students, International Undergraduate Orientation and other customized programming for students demonstrates the University’s commitment to giving our students useful tools, helpful resources and a meaningful experience at Orientation," says Pam Charbonneau, director of the Student Success Office. "Together with the Federation of Students, Graduate Student Association, Faculties, and other key campus partners we look forward to welcoming all new students to the University of Waterloo community.”

More information about each Orientation schedule can be found on the Orientation website.
