President Feridun Hamdullahpur's visit to Davos and the World Economic Forum continues today. Yesterday, the president tweeted a photo of himself with President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology Tony Chan. Chan was formerly the president of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, which has several partnership agreements with the University of Waterloo.
And while we're on the subject, in a bit of serendipitous Swiss synchronicity, the Current, a website funded by Swiss electronics distributor Distrelec, recently ranked the University of Waterloo fourth in a survey of “The Americas’ most innovative universities for AI and robotics.” Waterloo stood in rarified company in the ranking, behind only the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Southern California.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
