I am one of those lucky people who have spent a lifetime exploring the world of geology, gathering specimens for the museum, rocks for my rock garden, preparing displays and presentations on the subject for the museum and Wat on Earth Newsletter. After being curator since the early 1970’s I now volunteer one day a week as needed.
I have always enjoyed visiting places with spectacular geology. This winter I spent nine weeks exploring Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. In the photo I am inside a concretion at Moeraki Boulders on the South Island of New Zealand.
My other interests are photography, preparing illustrations for “Geoscience Canada” publication, sketching, hiking, cycling, encouraging grandchildren, singing in the Holy Saviour Anglican Church Generations Choir and spending quality time with my wife Vivian. Next winter we will be found among the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona escaping winter.
