The Earth Sciences Museum is located in the Centre for Environmental and Information Technology (EIT) on the main University of Waterloo campus.
Hours
The museum office and main exhibit area (the “Dino pit”) are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
The remaining exhibits, including the mining tunnel, rock and mineral collections, our Great Lakes water feature and monolith of granite gneiss rock, can be viewed whenever EIT is open, Monday to Sunday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Drop in and explore the museum at your own pace. Scavenger hunt lists (located next to the Great Lakes water feature) are great for helping guide kids through the collection.
And don’t forget our outdoor exhibit! The Peter Russell Garden is located between the Mathematics and Computer Building (MC), Earth Sciences and Chemistry (ESC), Biology 1 and the Quantum Nano Centre (QNC).
Admission
Admission is free for everyone!
Looking for a good idea for your next school field trip? Elementary and high school programs can also be booked for free.
