Resource Responsibilities

Innovation for Responsible Mining is an in-class workshop designed to introduce students to the mining industry in Canada, environmental concerns associated with mining and current research into mine site remediation. The workshop, aimed at students in grades 7 through 10, includes

  • four hands-on activities,
  • three videos about Earth science careers (featuring active university staff and students!) and
  • a take home field guide for every student.

The workshop is designed to meet the science and geography learning expectations for each grade and be accessible regardless of your classes baseline knowledge of mining processes.

The program materials are loaned out and shipped to your classroom at no charge to you for your students to enjoy! Technology services are available for classes without access to video viewing technology.

Careers in Earth Science

This video series allows students to explore future career options in Earth science with a focus on careers in field work, laboratory work and research. Check out any of the three videos to see interviews with active earth scientists. This video series compliments the activities in Resource Responsibilities, our classroom program aimed at Grade 7-10 students. Access our program booking button to reserve it for your class.
