This year's European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly was held in Vienna from April 9th to 13th. At the conference, Dr. Hans Durr presented a poster titled 'Regional-scale nutrient levels in groundwaters around the Laurentian Great Lakes'. Hans' research showed a data-driven approach to estimate the groundwater contribution to nutrient loads in Great Lakes watersheds. Stephane Ngueleu also submitted a poster, presented by Riyadh Al-Raoush from Qatar University, on 'Sorption and biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in (semi-) arid coastal soil environments as a function of salinity and temperature'. Fereidoun Rezanezhad and Philippe Van Cappellen were co-authors on this poster. Fereidoun was also co-author on a talk given by Bernd Lennartz from University Rostock on 'Hydraulic functioning of degraded peat soils'.
